“IT WAS NOT DOWN ON ANY CALENDAR, THAT TIME, GREAT CELEBRATIONS WERE NEVER THERE”
Valentine’s Day or the Saint Valentine’s Day, the most awaited day of the year, celebrated on 14th February, among all occasions that celebrates relationships and love. Since, this involves one of the most beautiful and intriguing of all human emotions, love. It holds certain emotional intrigues in the bourgeois making the connection stronger in the society. It is a day of “Choosing a Sweetheart”, spread through Europe and later to early American colonies. People believe that birds also pick their mates on February 14. “Without Valentine’s Day, February would be..well, January”-Gaffigan said it quite truly because it is not any another month, as it is unique in itself, as it has “Valentine’s Day” in association with the days that comes before 14th February making it more special and red. It is incomplete without Cupid, the God of Love. It is believed that if Cupid shoots his arrow of love and hits you, you will fall insanely in love with the next person you meet.
The biggest misconception, that this day, is rejoiced by lovers needs to be clarified because this day is basically for all those people who want to express their gratitude to their loved ones, be it parents, family, friends, cousins. Even I want to highlight a fresh look onto this, as I personally believe that this day should be the day to sort out the pending issues. Anybody, who doesn’t have the courage to speak out things that would make the matter better, should blow it off on this day. By not doing it only for lovers, you are no less painting the town red for anybody. Red has a special connection with Valentine’s Day as it has evolved over a period of time as a symbol of deep emotion. The colour red speaks of culmination, burning desires and deepest of passion. The day is blown off steam by exchanging flowers especially red roses, greeting cards and chocolates, making it feel special in every way possible for the love of your life. Red Rose- “The Jack of all Roses” is the most beautiful, elegant, dramatic and intriguing of all roses symbolising romance, passion and most importantly true love. Let’s break a social convention this Valentine’s Day for “homosexuals” as they should be allowed to express their love in broad daylight and political elites like Shiv Sena should not consider this day as cultural contamination by the West and should welcome it with open arms. Let’s also turn it red for all those who must be considering this day as the “Black Tuesday” this year. I don’t mean that you just go around and date somebody or everybody but declare your love to that special someone about whom you are holding onto for a long time.
Catch your love this year and make it a delightful moment for yourself and those who don’t get to see their valentine this year, just don’t get disheartened as there is nothing extraordinary about it as there are many more years to come.
